2024 Charleston Half Marathon®

The Charleston Half Marathon® is ECM's annual fundraiser and we
are so grateful to all the runners and families who join us for this
special day to run the half marathon or the 5K. Both races support
the arts in local schools and 20% of the proceeds are awarded in
arts grants to teachers – WOOHOO!
Details
The Charleston Half Marathon® is a scenic 13.1-mile run through downtown Charleston, that showcases the beauty and the history of the Lowcountry. This year the race starts and ends at the iconic Joseph P. Riley Park, Home of ECM’s Partner in Fun, The Charleston RiverDogs. If you choose to run the race, artwork from local schools will dot the course to keep you motivated and moving toward the finish line at “The Joe.” Here is how you can participate in this exciting day:
• Half Marathon
• 5K
• Youth Marathon
• All courses are flat
• Entertainment along the course
• Ample aid stations with medical support
• Available bathrooms
• FREE parking at the event provided by ECM (333 Fishburne Street)
• Family-friendly post-race event with entertainment at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park
Youth Marathon
K-5 students are encouraged to run the Charleston Youth Marathon. Students can sign up individually or with their school if they have a group already running. Leading up to race day, students will log 25 miles on the mileage tracker prior to the final 1.2- mile run. Each runner receives a commemorative t-shirt and finisher medal. In addition, a family fun area with refreshments, activities and live entertainment awaits the finishers at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park.
The Charleston Half Marathon® Grants Program
Grants support students in Charleston County, Berkeley County, and Dorchester District 2, and we have raised over $500,000 to support the arts in local schools. Email [email protected] to learn more about how you can apply for a classroom arts grant.

The Mission of the Charleston Half Marathon® cannot be realized without the support and partnership of the local business community. Monetary donations, as well as in-kind products or services, serve as the backbone to this crucial fundraising event. Currently, we are seeking 2 golf carts for our team to borrow for the weekend. Volunteer for the Charleston Half Marathon®
It’s easy! Simply visit this link to sign up! There you can choose from a variety of stations where volunteers are needed throughout the race. Water stops, course monitors, packet check-in, kids’ area, finish line – all these areas need
to be manned. Come out and join the fun for one of the most enjoyable and community-backed events of the YEAR!!
Why should YOU volunteer?
• Groups of 20 or more will receive a stipend of $150. Great for organizations, school groups, teams, churches, and clubs!
• College students and high school students will receive service hours for their time!
• It’s for a GREAT CAUSE!!! A portion of the proceeds from race day helps to fund grants for local schools to help integrate arts programs into their curriculum!
• All volunteers receive a free t-shirt and post-race refreshments!
• It’s just FUN!!!!
