Engagement Opportunities

The mission of Engaging Creative Minds is to inspire the creative and innovative potential of all students to achieve academically and become imaginative, adaptable, and productive adults resulting in stronger communities and an increasingly competitive South Carolina workforce.

Engaging Creative Minds is involved in the education and cultural arts communities in many ways. ECM is proud to have strong community support from our tri-county region. From our energetic and passionate volunteers to our generous public and private donors, we appreciate the support and time given by all!

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

In-School Experiences

ECM’s goal is to provide equal access to quality learning opportunities based on curriculum standards in all interested schools in the tri-county region.  The School ARTvocate position is perfect for a former teacher or administrator.  You will visit our ECM roster schools during an ELE (Engaged Learning Experience) and observe/assist art partners, take photos for social media and/or deliver the ELE supplies.  It is a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with students, teachers and staff.

Qualifications: Own transportation; must pass SLED background check

Time commitment:  Time dependent upon ELE schedule

End of the Year School Festivals

Engaging Creative Minds hosts an End of Year (EOY) Festival at each of our roster schools.  Typically, the festival is part of an end of the year school event such as Field Day or End of Year performances.  This is an additional benefit to all of our schools!  Most EOY festivals occur during the month of May.

Most often,  students circulate through artists in groups of about 10-15 students with a volunteer or teacher.  Sometimes there are larger groups of students and sometimes smaller. Students can stay with an artist anywhere from 10-20 minutes depending on what the school needs.  You will greet them, check them in and assist with their load-in/load-out.  This is a hands-on position.

Qualifications: Must love students and creativity!  Our Festival ARTvocates are the on-site contact for ECM partners.

Time commitment:  Festivals commonly range from 2 to 4 hours per school.

Assist office staff in everyday office procedures including answering phones, typing, copying, filing and data entry.

Qualifications: 16 years or older; excellent customer service skills; flexible schedule and able to type. Computer skills desirable.

Time commitment: 1 – 2 hours/week, 3+ months.
