09 Apr Thanks for sharing your super powers, Lee Graack! | Volunteer Spotlight
Lee Graack is our next volunteer spotlight for Volunteer Appreciation Week. Lee is a high school student and volunteered last summer as a Jr. Counselor at our national award-winning Summer STEAM Institute® in Charleston, South Carolina. As a former camper herself, Lee was a huge help!
Here is what Engaging Creative Minds (ECM) Education Coordinator, Kari Maastricht, had to say about Lee’s efforts. “Lee Graack was an incredible high school volunteer at the 2018 Summer STEAM Institute®! As a former camper, she knew all about camp and quickly developed into an AMAZING volunteer. She was positive, punctual, hardworking and creative with our campers. She was ready and willing to jump in any situation and help out. Lee spent the majority of her time working with our youngest group of campers. She took the time to get to know the campers which helped them adjust quickly to their new surroundings.”
Lee shared a little bit more with us about her experience as a volunteer with ECM.
What motivated you to volunteer with ECM?
I was motivated to volunteer because I love the program. I had been a camper for two years and although that’s not long I loved the experience and was excited to be able to help others.
What makes this volunteer experience a meaningful use of your time?
I like being able to help others. Whether they don’t exactly comprehend the subject or they just need help writing something, I enjoyed helping them
What is the biggest benefit you receive as a volunteer with ECM?
I gained more confidence in leading others.
