Thanks for sharing your super powers, Maureen Boccitto! | Volunteer Spotlight

We are starting Volunteer Appreciation Week off by spotlighting one of our most established volunteers, Maureen Boccitto.  After completing her first marathon in Virginia, Maureen moved back to Charleston and decided to get involved with the Charleston Marathon® race as a volunteer.  For those of you who don’t know, the Charleston Marathon® is Engaging Creative Minds’ (ECM) largest annual fundraiser. Lucky for us, Maureen met us while volunteering at the finish line and has continued to help us out for the past three years during all of our other community events.  Talk about a SUPERHERO! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Maureen took some time to chat with us a bit about her volunteer experience and below is some of what she shared with us.

What makes this volunteer experience a meaningful use of your time?

I enjoy volunteering my time when it comes to helping the community and I love the concept behind what ECM offers as an organization. The marathon will always be one of my favorites, so it’s awesome that I get to help with one of ECM’s biggest events.

What is the biggest benefit you receive as a volunteer with ECM?

Having the opportunity to volunteer at the various venues has been fun. I have met so many wonderful people and have learned so much. To be able to bring awareness to the organization while volunteering is great and everyone has been so appreciative.
